What You'll Do
Summary:
Works under the direct supervision of the assigned Company Police Operations Sergeant or designated representative. Performs activities to ensure the safety and security of patients, visitors, employees, Medical Staff and NHRMC property.
Responsibilities:
1.Performs all assigned duties and requested services in a professional manner while displaying a positive teamwork attitude toward all customers.
2.Maintains proficiency in the knowledge of required duties procedures of the NHRMC Security Management Program to ensure compliance with DNV-GL standards.
3.Performs operational functions to include, but not limited to in accordance with existing policies, procedures, laws, regulations and directives:
Answers emergency telephone calls from throughout the facility and system.Dispatches appropriate resources via radio communications email, and other emergency notification devices.
Maintains call logs and reports in the RMS computer reporting system.
Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) – Monitor, record (tape) and report observed suspicious activity.
Emergency Panic alarms, boxes, telephone – acknowledge, effect proper response and report.
Telephone and two-way radio systems – Received / requested required information and relay/dispatch appropriate individuals (i.e. officers, plant operators, etc.) in a timely manner.
Elevator System – monitor, control (activate/deactivate, security lock-out, etc.) for routine and emergency situations, and report.
Emergency Generator Power System and Fire – monitor, acknowledge, announce, silence, and report.
Maintain and inventory patient valuables, including controlled substances brought from home.Contact owners of property left on discharge.
Stat’s Codes and Other Emergency Situations – acknowledge, report and respond/dispatch as appropriate.
Access Control and Keys – acknowledge request, respond/dispatch, receive, issue, account for and report.
DCI (Division of Criminal Information) System – monitor, acknowledge/receive, transmit, notify and record.
Lost and Found Patient Valuables – receive, maintain, and return.Contact owners of abandoned property.
Inclement Weather – receive, notify, and assist as needed.
Morgue Operations – manage placement and removal of expired individuals in the County Morgue, to include contacting the appropriate disseminating agencies, funeral services and families. Maintain and/or request accurate, complete logs, forms and reports; maintain and ensure the accuracy and completeness of all paperwork associated with the disposition of expired individuals;
Provide customer service duties to vendors, visitors, staff and patients on a walk-up basis.
Distribute Parking Permits and control parking citation throughput
Master Key Control – maintain inventory and disseminate facility and system keys as requested
HUGS Infant Alarm System – monitor and report infant abduction alarm notifications.
Monitor and record subpoena services from outside agencies.
Assists training new employees and police officers in job related duties
4.Performs administrative functions to include but not limited to: reports, computer related operations items, to ensure continued operations; inputs and retrieves required/requested data systems.
5.Timely resolution of events will reduce overall liability issues in the execution of required duties and responsibilities.
6.Maintains rapport with internal and external contacts at all levels of NHRMC and outside agencies to include state and local law enforcement; other Healthcare facilities, Medical Examiners, and recognized professional organizations to promote NHRMC’s image and philosophy.

Licensure/Certifications: FOR Special Police (8070): Valid NC drivers license preferred. Certification on DCI system will be required within 1 year. Notary Public certification preferred. .
Experience: Minimum of one year in an emergency communications center, law enforcement (officer dispatcher) or healthcare environment preferred.
Demonstrates standards of performance (ownership, teamwork, communication, compassion) that support patient satisfaction and principles of service excellence.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Individual will possess commensurate combination of education, experience and qualifications.
