Summit Achievement of Stow, ME is a nationally recognized residential outdoor behavioral healthcare program, combining therapeutic wilderness programming and tailored academics to better serve adolescents with mild to moderate social, emotional and educational issues.

Position: English Teacher / Academic Advisor

Location: Stow, Maine

Pay Rate: $42K-$48K Plus Excellent Benefits

Schedule: Monday-Friday, School Day Hours

Duties:

This position is classroom-based, requiring a knowledge base in basic high school English. The English teacher will provide individualized instruction and academic advising to a small group of 7th-12th grade co-ed students in a blended learning classroom setting. A background in classroom teaching, special education, and/or working with at-risk teens is a plus but not required. Responsibilities include: supporting students through English courses supplied by an online curriculum, developing individual academic goals and strategies, working under the supervision of a licensed clinician to support individual treatment goals, maintaining a clean classroom, and regularly communicating with families of students. The English teacher reports to the Academic Director.

Class Size: Averages just 4-5 students!

Students: Adolescent struggling with anxiety, depression, substance abuse, etc.

Behaviors: We do NOT work with students who are physically aggressive.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• CERTIFICATION NOT REQUIRED!
• Must have patience, and a desire to work with kids!
