Do you want to develop training that will transform national security? As an instructional designer, you know that even the best tools and processes can’t have an impact without the right education. Constructing an interactive course that teaches critical tradecraft requires a real passion for understanding the needs of your customer. We have an opportunity for an instructional designer who is committed to solving some of the toughest challenges in national security by crafting effective training.
On our team, you’ll work with SMEs, instructors, and product developers to capture your customer’s training needs and advise them on the right learning solution to help them accomplish their mission. Putting the learner at the center of the training experience, you’ll design synchronous material. You’ll build training material with graphic artists and instructors, following the ADDIE model.
You’ll use your technical skills, creativity, and experience to come up with new ideas to develop an engaging, interactive learning experience on screen or in a classroom. You’ll recommend cutting-edge multimedia technologies and strategies, including blended learning to build a successful learning environment. You know communication is key, so you’ll meet with Navy SMEs and instructors throughout the process to discuss learning material and incorporate feedback. To ensure your solution is hitting the mark, you’ll collect and analyze results using evaluation methodologies such as the Kirkpatrick Model then fine-tune your training for maximum impact. You’ll be able to hone your leadership skills as you share your expertise through leadership and mentoring. As a leader, you’ll identify new opportunities to build solutions to your customer’s learning needs. This is a chance to use your deep understanding of training methodologies to shape a creative learning experience that will engage students.

You Have:
Experience as a Navy Instructor or with Afloat Training Group
Experience as a Navy Quartermaster or Engineering Department Leader
Knowledge of Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical (HM&E) systems, including Command and Control (C2) systems, such as steering gear, switchboards, machinery control systems, bridge and navigation systems, and deck equipment
Ability to collaborate with client personnel to conduct comprehensive Training Needs Analysis (TNA) that identifies work competencies, training requirements, goals, learning objectives, topics, instructional strategies, media selection, and training recommendations for a specified audience
Secret clearance
Bachelor’s degree
Nice If You Have:
Experience as an NEC 9502 instructor preferred
Experience as Navy enlisted ratings EN, GS, EM, or CPO preferred
Experience providing Surface Warfare Schools Command instruction, operation, testing, remediation, curriculum support, including updates and curriculum maintenance, administration, safety, and management support services for formalized naval training
Knowledge of NAVEDTRA 130 Series and DoD 29612 reports, including how to design and develop training solutions based on results of training task analysis
Clearance:
Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Secret clearance is required.

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $65,300.00 to $149,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees. Work Model
