Position Summary: The Laboratory Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the general chemistry and organic chemistry teaching laboratories of the CBE department and support the Biology Lab materials and chemicals procurement when needed. The position reports to the Associate Director of Laboratory Operations. Activities include working directly with teaching faculty; laboratory safety training and policy; FDNY C14 certification training; maintaining equipment and instrumentation; maintaining service records; supervising equipment operations; creating and disseminating standard operating procedures and policies; managing inventory and coordinating for waste disposal; regularly interacting with Tandon Senior Laboratory Safety Officer and NYU Environmental Health and Safety/ Research & Laboratory Safety and Facilities Management and completing other duties assigned by the supervisor. The Laboratory Manager will hold workshops to train students on the proper use of instrumentation, including NMR, FT-IR, probe microscopes, and other spectroscopic equipment for common use. Create procedures for scheduling and tracking use when necessary and contribute to the department’s teaching and training mission at all levels. Qualifications: Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree in engineering or science field (i.e chemical and biomolecular engineering, chemistry and biology etc)

Preferred Education:
Master's Degree in engineering or science field (i.e chemical and biomolecular engineering, chemistry and biology etc)

Required Experience:
3+ years experience working in a laboratory environment.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
High level of independent thinking, creativity and goal oriented productivity. Excellent interpersonal and written/oral communication skills. Ability to identify and support implementation of best practices. Project management, teaching and/or mentoring experience. MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Additional Information: In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $81,000.00 to USD $99,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
