Job description

Attention Rock Star Machinists! Are you fueled by a passion for precision, driven by excellence, and constantly seeking creative solutions to improve processes and hit tight lead times? We're leaving outdated technology and slow-paced processes in the dust, and we need a Lead CNC Machinist like you to join our dynamic, passionate, and friendly team. Seize this opportunity to take your career to the next level with massive earning potential and be at the forefront of manufacturing.

We're revolutionizing the industry with cutting-edge technology, automation, and a "need it yesterday" mentality, all in pursuit of reinvigorating American manufacturing.

Our mission is to make machinists 10X more productive by eliminating tedious programming and custom fixturing tasks. Our patent-pending universal fixture system (still in stealth mode) allows for 1-minute setups on complex multi-operation parts. We achieve extremely short lead times by imposing constraints on material and job type, standardizing tooling and processes, and focusing on technology and automation.

Our vision is to democratize creation by allowing anyone to submit a model online in the evening and receive an affordable, quality finished part the next day. A tough goal, we know, but someone's got to do it.

We only want to work with the best, so we offer a competitive base salary of $60,000 to $70,000, equity options for company ownership, and performance-based bonuses up to an additional $50,000 per year. This is a unique opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced machinist. How many shops let you own a piece of the pie?

You'll have the chance to build something tangible and exciting from the ground up, not just work within an existing system. You'll get to work with state-of-the-art CNC machines (maybe a tired Daewoo today, but shiny 5-axis Matsuuras tomorrow), design and build custom fixturing and tooling, lead production efforts, and drive continuous improvement to ensure on-time delivery of high-quality parts. When we're not filling orders, we're using our machine time to produce existing products and develop advanced drivetrain products (fun ones).

Our team is brilliant, friendly, and passionate about what we do. We're located north of the Golden Gate Bridge in an excellent location where the team rides bikes, tests new products, and climbs together regularly. We believe work should be more than just a job – it should be an opportunity to be part of something bigger, something making an impact.

About you:

We don’t care about years of experience, we care about your ability to solve unusual problems in creative ways, as well as your deep understanding of machine tools and processes.

  • Strong understanding of G-code, CAM software, and 3D modeling
  • Experience designing and building custom fixturing and tooling
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and meet tight lead times
  • Excellent attention to detail and a drive for quality in your work
  • Troubleshoot complex machining issues and implement continuous improvement strategies
  • Strong leadership, communication skills, with empathy and emotional reasoning
  • Reliability and attention to detail are critical. Do you follow through on your commitments?
  • Experience with Fanuc control preferred

What your day could look like: It's dynamic and will change every day, but here are some examples of responsibilities:

  • Coordinating CAM programmers, providing feedback and improvements to their work
  • Testing and debugging the universal fixturing system, working with CTO and engineers on improvements
  • Machine operation and production of a diverse range of parts, primarily aluminum
  • Rapid prototyping of parts for in-house testing and use
  • Developing production tooling and quality control
  • Coordinating machine maintenance
  • Developing SOPs, quality checklists, inspection programs
  • Testing SOPS, inspection programs, etc.
  • Coordinating setup of new machines and inspection tools
  • Training junior machinists and interns
  • Shop improvements and purchasing decisions
  • Checking off on part inspection and packing

Please note that this is not an opportunity for just any machinist, it's an opportunity for excellence. if you're ready to join a company that is revolutionizing production and changing the game, then we'd love to hear from you. Come be a part of our team and help us bring our vision to life. Together, we can create an amazing future for American manufacturing.
