Job description
Machinist
Machinists are required to set up, program and operate machine tools such as manual lathes, mills, CNC equipment, and grinders, to machine metallic and nonmetallic work pieces by performing the necessary steps according to drawings provided by the company’s engineering department. Machinists are required to have sufficient experience or familiarity with the programs and equipment used by company and can be easily trained.
Such programs and equipment include the following:
Solidworks 2011; MasterCam X9 ; ProtoTrak mills; Okuma lathe; TREE 800 VMC Mill; ProtoTrak DPM2 3-axis bed mill, ProtoTrak K3 2-axis knee mill. Machinists are also required to use table saws, band saws, shear, grinders, sanders, drill press, buffers, calipers, gauges, and micrometers.
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years preferred experience in job shop environment
- Knowledge of machine shop theory and procedures
- Shop mathematics
- Can calculate proper feeds and speeds of materials
- Layout techniques and use of precision measuring instruments
- Interfacing skills with engineering, production, programmers and co-workers to resolve machining or assembly problems. Team work attitude is required.
- Productivity, customer commitment, safety and quality conscious
- CNC programing skills using MasterCam
- Ability to read technical prints and understand the tolerances required
- Tool and Die making experience desired but not necessary
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
