As part of our professional team, you will collaborate with doctors, surgeons, and other healthcare providers to provide optimal healthcare options to our patients. You will assess, diagnose, and evaluate treatment plans for patients and perform various additional patient care actions depending on the diagnosis. You will actively facilitate patients’ recovery by applying medical techniques and principles under the direction of a physician.

Plessen Healthcare is a highly dynamic organization comprised of a medical clinic, the only CMS accredited Ambulatory Surgical Center in the USVI, and an Urgent Care/Specialty Clinic. Our team of providers and nurses will be expected to work within each of the 3 business units, as needed. We are seeking VI licensed, experienced practitioners.

Job Duties:

  • Provide adult primary care including women's health
  • Recommends options and courses of action for patient care
  • Implements physician directives
  • Interpret and assess patient data to plan for patient treatment and management
  • Provide guidance and instructions regarding medical care to patients
  • Assesses patient health by interviewing patients and performing physical examination (including obtaining, updating, and studying medical histories)
  • Determines abnormal conditions by administering or ordering diagnostic test, such as X-rays and laboratory studies and by interpreting test results
  • Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records
  • Performs therapeutic procedures by administering injections and immunizations, suturing, and managing wounds and infections
  • Instructs and counsels patients by providing normal growth and development information and providing counseling on emotional problems of daily living
  • Promotes wellness and health maintenance
  • Provides community of care by developing and implementing patient-management plans
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols. Complies with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; and enforcing adherence to requirements and advising management on needed actions
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Current Virgin Islands State license preferred
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States (US Citizen or Permanent Resident)
  • 1+ year of working experience as a family nurse practitioner
  • Knowledge of medical procedures and guidelines concerning assessment, treatment, and recovery
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to multi-task
  • ACLS and BLS CPR card
  • Ability to work effectively under minimal supervision
  • Caring and compassionate
  • Team player with excellent communication skills
  • Strong healthcare background
