Sportico is adding a one year apprentice to our newsroom, we are looking to add a curious self-starter to help cover the sports business industry alongside our staff.

The candidate must have a passion for learning and doing in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Duties will encompass every facet of Sportico’s operations, including participation in story ideation, reporting, writing, editing, social media, data visualization and live events.

We are seeking a strong writer and presenter with a knack for finding stories encompassing sports, business and entertainment, including leagues, teams, athletes, media companies and finance. The ideal candidate has an eye for developing and executing exclusives.

The right candidate will be able to work across Sportico’s platforms seamlessly, assisting staffers and taking initiative for their own ideas.

Requirements:

• Journalism experience
• Ability to analyze, interpret, and break hard news
• Work collaboratively
• Be a self-starter, enterprising

Responsibilities:

• Provide real-time coverage and produce daily updates on events that impact the sports business world.
• Identify, recommend and develop feature stories surrounding the latest industry developments
• Implement digital journalistic strategies to enhance reports and engage audience interest, including social media, podcasting and video
• Develop relationships with new information sources
