ROLE OVERVIEW
As a Sr. Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for bringing design driven concepts to market that are durable and meet all of M&D’s safety and performance requirements as well as global compliance requirements and corporate programs for social responsibility.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the design and development engineering teams, from earliest points in the NPD process, to ensure applicable elements of safety, reliability and performance are identified and able to be incorporated in the final designs.
  • Interface in the process for sustained products in the field for reviews and ongoing assessments to support the product life cycle.
  • Support enhancement and development of NPD processes to make the inclusion of quality engineering standards and assessments a natural part of the process, with the right input at the right time.
  • Evaluate products, and in concurrence with development engineering, document and outline risks, changes and modifications necessary to ensure the M&D level of product compliance is achieved.
  • Evaluate products, from early concept drawings to samples, for risk / Hazard analysis and mitigation options on new products or product changes including hands on assessment of samples or components..
  • Work on establishing the uniform use of standardized tools and applications across our teams and key supplier bases as appropriate.
  • Support M&D’s continuous product and process improvement programs
  • Suggest/promote new technologies to help expand the play and categories of M&D product
  • Generate product technical files.
  • Ensure alignment across the quality engineering and compliance team for posed product requirements, and produce clear documentation for ongoing clarity of product requirements.
  • Diligence in meeting and supporting the ongoing goals to meet M&D brand reputation and product integrity goals
  • Participate in department projects for process improvement, enhanced product collaboration, etc. as part of overall functional work.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in Product Quality Engineering in the toy industry. Some consumer products industry experience may substitute if after review it is found to be relevant in material, function, and feature sets.
  • Hands-on problem solver with strong skills in learning and using typical laptop / system tools, read drawings from programs like SolidWorks, and others.
  • Experience working with mixed materials (plastics, wood, metal, textile), hard and soft goods, and the integration of these materials (electronics knowledge a plus).
  • Experience with overseas manufacturing operations and processes including tool/mold design and wood cutting process parameters for tolerances.
  • Familiarity with toy industry standards and applicability to toy categories for global set of regulatory requirements preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with superior attention to detail.
  • Leadership experience in planning and deploying segments of the new product development process.
  • Demonstrated strength in collaboration skills but ability to ensure quality standards are not compromised.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely to a variety of team members and across department functions.
