As a key member of Fire & Security, and reporting to the Director of Engineering in IFPS, the PMO Leader plays a critical role in the prioritization of product, systems and services development projects and programs as well as driving project and program execution. Partnering with business leaders, including Finance, Sales, Operations, Product Managers and Engineering leadership, the Associate Director, PMO Lead leverages a strategic approach to managing the portfolio of new product developments, sustaining efforts, and cost savings projects.
The candidate uses data and KPIs to analyze and recommend priorities and sequencing of work to achieve the business outcomes while applying a pragmatic approach to getting things done. The candidate must be able to anticipate and proactively remove roadblocks, drive key decisions, and work collaboratively with a wide array of stakeholders, being a critical participant in the annual planning process, on-going portfolio updates, and is accountable to deliver the portfolio goals and outcomes.
The successful candidate must be able to effectively prioritize work, manage people and resources to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery of programs. Leading through influence, the PMO Leader ensures proper staffing levels for projects within the portfolio. A leader able to attract, train and develop employees, and holds self and Project and/or Program Managers accountable. The PMO Lead will cultivate innovation by encouraging diverse thinking, cross-functional collaboration, and new ways of looking at problems.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and manage the IFPS portfolio ensuring alignment to the overall strategic direction of the business. Develop and execute product development and launch plans to drive top line business growth, increase speed of innovations and new product deliveries in the most efficient way. Ensure that individual projects and programs are created and staffed properly; remove roadblocks where needed and protect resources attached to Top/strategic projects.
- Drive cultural change in line with Carrier Way, focusing on speed, innovation, and empowerment. Build a world-class Project Management team, organization and processes, identifying, developing and attracting top talents. Effectively lead and develop a high-performing team of Project Managers.
- Drive focus, execution rigor - ensuring robust/world class program execution – on budget, on time, with quality. Develop plans and prioritization processes to drive adequate balance between NPD, platform development and sustaining/customer and addressing both global and regional needs.
- Support the Carrier and IFPS WHQ’s engineering strategy, working with other PMO leads, engineering leaders and teams to increase speed of innovation and new product launches, focusing on supporting IFPS platforming, innovation, and systems/tools consolidation initiatives.
- Establish and drive regular cadence of reporting. Communicate and report on execution and risks to the portfolio. Ensure tracking and documentation of all projects according to company standards.
- Able to deal comfortably with senior leadership; demonstrate executive presence.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management, or related field
- 10+ years professional experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- PMP and/or Scrum Master certification
- Advanced degree desired
