Organization Description

The Arizona Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (ADLCC) is the only organization in Arizona whose sole purpose is to elect Democrats to the State House and Senate.

Our organization was formed in 2015 when Democratic leaders from the Arizona House and Senate identified the need for an organization whose purpose was to identify, support and elect Democratic candidates statewide. In every year since our founding, we have picked up seats and held the line against Republican incumbents who continue to radicalize. In 2022, ADLCC held the line in both the State House and State Senate, set against a tough and biased redistricting year. We have broken the super majority in our state and, with a Democratic Governor heading into the 2023-2024 cycle, are more poised than ever to put a Democratic trifecta in our state government.

Job Title: Deputy Field Director

Position/Role: This role will report to the Deputy Executive Director. The pay for this role is $75,000-$85,000/year. This position is located in Arizona, with flexibility on home location between Phoenix metro area or Tucson.

This is a management and field position for an experienced operative who will be managing multiple layers of staff and running the most ambitious field program the ADLCC has run in our state. The Deputy Field Directors will oversee the legislative field effort in specific districts, which is focused on persuasion and turnout efforts in key legislative districts in Arizona. The Deputy Field Directors will collaborate closely with each other, the Data Manager, District Managers, and Field Managers to ensure all voting communities are engaged and empowered in 2024.

Responsibilities:

• Work with field managers, district managers, and the data manager to build a field plan for each of your battleground districts

• Participate in recruitment of and interviews for directly managed staff as well as other district staff

• Train and manage District Managers for each of your battleground districts

• Participate in the hiring, management and training of a large staff of field organizers in specific districts in the state

• In coordination with DMs and the deputy executive director, set weekly goals, and develop systems of accountability and data reports to analyze output and ensure data integrity for all aspects of the campaign. Develop appropriate metrics and manage systems of accountability for staff and in-district teams.

• Establish clear standards for reporting back to HQ staff on metrics and any challenges in reaching goals

• Work directly with the Data Manager to ensure all data needs are being addressed in your districts

• Support the creation of staff and volunteer training materials

• Create aspirational goals and coach staff to success

• Identify opportunities to support, encourage, and help staff grow in their roles and in electoral politics

• Facilitate communication between field teams from partner campaigns and campaign offices

• Facilitate communication between the field team and other departments in the ADLCC

• Integrate voter contact tools into the field plan

• Communicate and contextualize programmatic updates/priorities to your team and share salient programmatic feedback and recommendations.

• Constantly seek to motivate, problem solve, share best practices, and support the unique needs of each member of your team through daily check-in/out calls, 1:1 meetings, and team meetings.

• Attend team meetings both in-districts (you are not leading these) and with HQ staff

• Ensure your team is engaging all constituencies across every corner of your districts

• Take initiative to build trust with and establish recurring communication/coordination with key local political stakeholders, local Democratic parties, and relevant organizations in your battleground districts and the state
