The Optician is responsible for assisting patients with ophthalmic eyeglass and contact lens prescriptions.
Eyecare Assistant range: $18-$21 DOE with ability to go higher for highly experienced candidates.
1. Fills prescriptions for patients based on eye care consultation.
2. Consults with patients to determine a patient’s current lens prescription.
3. Recommends specific lenses, lens coatings, and frames for patients.
4. Assists patients with frame selection.
5. Measures a patient’s bridge and eye size, temple length, seg. height, pupillary distance, and optical centers of eyes according to Optometry Association guidelines.
6. Prepares work orders and instructions for lenses and eyeglass production.
7. Verifies finished lenses match to specifications.
8. Adjusts eyeglasses by heating, bending, and shaping plastic or metal frames.
9. Instructs clients in adapting to, wearing, and caring for eyeglasses.
10. Sells contact lenses. Assists patient in insertion and removal of contact lens classes
11. Repairs damaged frames, lens edges and coatings.
12. Selects and orders frames for display and maintain proper inventory counts monthly
13. Computes amount of sale and collects payment for services. Enter V-code on hardware purchases to bill to insurance and/or self-pay patients.
14. Collect and post payments onto systems and balance cash till at end of day according to Cash Handling Protocols.
15. Generate weekly reports including order status, inventory, pending invoices, and lenses sold.
16. Review patient reports daily and calling to schedule patients overdue for an appointment to ensure a full schedule for the providers.
17. Assists and provides instructions and training to co-workers in the department.
18. Provide front desk support when needed, registering patient information using two (2) patient identifiers at check-in and schedule recall visits at departure.
19. Verify patient insurance eligibility and routine/hardware benefits for every insured patient prior to being seen.
20. Answer incoming phone calls regarding scheduling and general eye care information according to CBHA scheduling protocols.
21. Input prescription into the blocker and edger systems, select correct lens blank through online protal; block, cut, and polish lenses.
22. Assembly and mounting of lenses into frames.
23. Other duties as assigned.
24. Promotes a positive work culture and upholds clinic policies and procedures, including the WE CARE standards of Behavior.

2. Ability to prepare basic correspondence and simple reports in Microsoft Word or Excel.

2. Proficiency in speaking, reading, and translating both English and Spanish.

Dental – CBHA In-House Credit
In-house credit of $1,300 annual maximum for services provided at CBHA dental clinic. $35 copay is waived for preventative services.
Vision – CBHA In-House Credit
In house credit includes for one eye exam every plan year. $200 hardware credit for employee and dependents for prescription hardware (glasses, contacts, prescription sunglasses). Employees and dependents also receive one additional hardware credit per year at CBHA’s cost + 20% (used for non-prescription sunglasses, contact lenses, or a second pair of prescription glasses). $35 copay is waived for preventative services

403 (b) Retirement Plan:
Safe Harbor Match: Employees are eligible to receive a Safe Harbor Match of 100% up to 4% of the employee’s total salary. Employee is full vested in Safe Harbor Match from day 1. Contributions are subject to IRS guidelines.
Non-Elective Contribution- Provided the employee has met enrollment qualifications, employee will also receive 4% employer contribution of employee’s total salary at the end of the Plan Year at the discretion of Board of Directors.
Vacation (Personal Leave):
- Non-exempt employees, during their first year of employment, will accrue at the rate of .03077 per hour worked not to exceed a per pay period accrual of 2.46 hours.
- Non-exempt employees, Year 2, will accrue at the rate of .06924 per hour worked not to exceed a per pay period accrual of 5.53 hours.
- Non-exempt employees, Year 3 and thereafter, will accrue at the rate of .08077 per hour worked not to exceed a per pay period accrual of 6.46 hours.
- All employees receive 8 vacation hours for a Wellness Day on their Anniversary Date each year.
