The Office of Engagement and Extension (OEE) was organized in 2006 to advance CSU’s engagement and outreach missions and in support of lifelong learning. OEE includes CSU Extension, CSU Extended Campus (including CSU Online, Collaboration Campuses and OLLI), the Colorado Water Center, the Salazar Center, and a variety of vibrant programs that engage the teaching, research, extension, and service missions of Colorado State University. The Vice President for Engagement and Extension (VPEE) is the principal administrative, academic, and fiscal officer for these divisions, reports to the CSU President, and works closely with the Provost/Executive Vice President. These divisions work collaboratively across all Colleges and offices on campus, and have strong engagement programs throughout Colorado, the Western US and globally. At any given time, OEE’s divisions include over 400 employees. The total of budgets for all divisions is approximately $85 million. OEE is one of the most institutionally comprehensive commitments to engagement and outreach among all land-grant and other universities. Position Summary
The Marketing and Communications Specialist is a member of the Office of Engagement & Extension (OEE) Marketing and Communications team. As communications generalists, specialist-level positions create content including design, campaigns, and featured stories for traditional print and online channels including web, social, and email under the guidance of and direction by department managers and leaders. Specialists also support channels including print, social media, email, websites, intranet, and other communications platforms, and support development of communications and marketing plans and reports.
The day-to-day role of this position will focus on developing, implementing and overseeing social media strategies for CSU Extension-affiliated social channels and accounts; creating, editing, and managing social content; tracking and analyzing social channel metrics and analytics; identifying and implementing creative approaches for enhancing audience reach and engagement; and working with OEE and Extension social media administrators to strengthen alignment with CSU/OEE brand guidelines and providing proactive guidance around social media trends and best practices.
This position supports our overall department aims: to support development of quality programming that meets learner/community needs; to enable access and expanded reach; to increase awareness; to position and align OEE and CSU brands; to nurture relationships, partnerships and prospective learners; and to share stories of impact across Colorado and beyond.

Required Job Qualifications
  • Completed bachelor’s degree in Communication, English, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field.
  • Two plus years experience in Marketing and Communications work.
  • Experience creating and editing copy for multiple audiences and across multiple platforms (traditional and online).
  • Experience supporting the development of marketing and communications plans.
  • Understanding of Marketing and Communications channels, platforms and tactics to assess, reach and engage a broad array of audiences.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Microsoft Office and industry software such as Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop), WordPress and Canva.
  • Demonstrated administrative and organizational skills.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain a driver’s license or access to a licensed driver by the employment start date.

Preferred Job Qualifications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understanding of and experience with Marketing and Communications channels, reporting and metrics.
  • Experience with project management and/or a demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively with diverse teams to prioritize, brainstorm, develop, and implement creative projects.
  • Experience using web and social media analytics and internal reporting tools to collect and analyze relevant data, and to determine the effectiveness of communications and collateral in meeting the identified communication goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrated commitment to enhancing diversity through inclusive design and language.
  • Experience and proficiency in developing presentations.
