The Senior Copywriter is an essential part of the creative and business team, continuously striving to develop unique and persuasive ideas that further a brand’s strategic marketing goals. The Senior Copywriter plays a leading role in collaborating across agency departments, ensuring that the project(s) move forward in an efficient and timely fashion. This individual has the ability to understand more than one voice and to adapt their writing skills as necessary. They are the “go to” copy experts on a brand.

Functions and Responsibilities

• The Senior Copywriter is responsible for excelling at Copywriter level functions and responsibilities
• Thorough understanding of the market and science of the assigned product(s)
• Translates complicated medical issues into powerful marketing materials
• Expert in OPDP guidelines and able to generate creative yet approvable copy solutions
• Develops advertising ideas and tactical concepts by staying current with marketing trends and platforms, collaborating across departments, and contributing creative ideas and opinions at meetings
• Participates in new business initiatives, including efficiently writing compelling and accurate copy claims
• Writes integrated copy across relevant channels and audiences (digital, print, motion, social)
• Collaborates across departments (e.g., digital strategy, UX, clinical, etc) to generate best-in-class copy that meets the strategic and tactical goals outlined in the job start form
• Assures accuracy, completeness, and neatness of own copy throughout the life-cycle of a job
• Demonstrate mastery of manuscript submission process, including; agency/client styles; referencing; and regulatory details of assigned product(s)
• Addresses any mark-ups made during the review process, providing novel solutions as needed
• Maintains a high standard of presentation of all work to internal and client audiences
• Successfully and diplomatically “sells” creative ideas that meet agency and client criteria
• Works well under tight deadlines with minimal supervision
• Follows agency processes and is accurate, timely, and efficient in their work
• Proactively keeps managers and PM “in the loop” about the status of their work and the overall project
• Works well in a team environment, accepts direction gracefully, and translates feedback appropriately
• Expert communicator that is able to anticipate project/brand challenges and provide usable solutions
• Minimum 4 years of experience is preferred
