POSITION TITLE: Clinical Quality Improvement Coordinator

REPORTS TO: Operations Manager

DEPARTMENT: Operations

LOCATION: Hillsboro, Oregon

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

SUMMARY: The Clinical Quality Improvement Coordinator (CQIC) is responsible for the overall clinical and regulatory compliance for all company ground resources in Washington County, Oregon. The CQIC must possess extensive knowledge of clinical metrics and quality assurance and improvement measures. They will be expected to use their knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) to focus on the details of working with complex technical data. The CQIC should have the KSAs to improve clinical outcomes with a deep understanding of the model for improvement.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES
  • Oversees the quality assurance and continuous improvement program.
  • Reviews all aspects of emergency medical services clinical performance. -To include medical protocol compliance, patient care and treatment, patient care documentation, and adherence to patient confidentiality standards.
  • Oversees the clinical metrics in FirstPass in conjunction with the contract Medical Director, and Washington County EMS (WCEMS) oversight.
  • Conducts and coordinates, in conjunction with the contract Medical Director, formal quality assurance meetings and investigations.
  • In conjunction with the contract, Medical Director reviews the company's medical protocols and makes recommendations for improvement.
  • Reports deviations in the standard of care and medical protocols, patient care documentation standards, and radio protocols and recommends remedial training.
  • Coordinates and works with the training department on a regular basis.
  • Maintains operational data and generates reports.
  • Coordinates with outside agencies such as PSAP, AMR dispatch or medical facilities and staff as needed to ensure continued process improvement goals are met. This will be accomplished through regular attendance at stakeholder meetings. The majority of meetings will be virtual, however, some travel to meetings will be required.
  • The ability to communicate and coordinate with data analysts at AMR and WCEMS.
  • Attends the EMS Advisory Council meetings to communicate with all representatives. Shares information regarding training department activities, changes in the standing medical orders and any quality assurance needs.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Licensing/Certification:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS, PHTLS, or equivalent certifications
  • Current State of Oregon Paramedic license
  • Valid driver's license
  • The following is preferred: Six Sigma Green Belt certification or credentials as a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality Improvement or equivalent certification.


Experience:

Minimum of 3 years' experience in the direct delivery of pre-hospital advanced life support as a Paramedic.

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Experience in performing, evaluating, instructing, and coaching all aspects of the delivery of pre-hospital care.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Just Culture.


WORKING CONDITIONS AND MENTAL/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Working Conditions: Work is generally performed in a typical interior/office environment
  • Paramedic shifts on an ambulance in the 911 system may occasionally be required or during disasters.
  • Frequently required to sit for long periods
  • Work requires stooping, walking, grasping, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; visual acuity is necessary for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surrounds and activities.
  • Pass physical agility test, drug screen, and background check.
  • Continually required to perceive normal speaking levels with or without correction and have the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, and use hands and arms.
  • Must be able to read/comprehend, write, perform calculations, reason, and analyze.
