ABOUT THE JOB

• In Galesburg, we specialize in the production of rubber and distribution of hydraulic hoses and their various parts
• Our process starts with raw materials - mixed, heated, and cooled for mill production. Once finished, it is our job to package and ship the products to one of our many customers around the world.
• A Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing daily maintenance, startups, break down repair, preventive maintenance, safety concerns, and general facilities maintenance.
• Shift available:Rotating 12-Hour Night Shift

ABOUT YOU

• Must have general maintenance knowledge (troubleshooting mechanical, electrical hydraulics, and pneumatic systems)
• Must have high level of mechanical aptitude and inventory control knowledge
• Must have experience in metal work welding, fabrication, and general mill work
• Strong team player: proactively able to step in to support other team members as needed and share knowledge to allow cross training of all functions, builds collaborative relationships
• Ability to interpret technical and maintenance manuals as required to address equipment and instrumentation failure
• Ability to read schematics to troubleshoot process equipment
• Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Access
• Working knowledge of Maintenance CMMS software
• Must have own tools
• Must be able to perform physical tasks, lifting up to 50 lbs., standing on concrete continuously, bending, stooping, twisting, stepping up and down, pushing, pulling, and reaching frequently
• Must be able to work 12 hour a shifts and a 7 day work schedule as required
• Must have 2-year technical degree or 5 years of progressive experience
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality standards
• Must have good communication skills, with the ability to carry out written and verbal instruction
• Basic reading, math, computer, and measurement skills required
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without sponsorship

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. Temperatures may vary in accordance with weather conditions and may be extreme. Gates is managed in compliance with OSHA guidelines and requires all employees to wear steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
