DCCH Center for Children and Families offers compassionate care and support to children and families facing adversity. Our high-quality therapeutic support services provide clients with a healing environment that helps them rebuild a sense of control, stability, trust, and hope over their lives for the future.
Our residential program provides 24-hour support and supervision to children in small group living arrangements. These children have often been removed from their homes by the State of Kentucky due to abuse and/or neglect and are now in need of therapeutic care.
What you will do:
You will provide trauma-informed care to children in our residential treatment program, empowering them to overcome behavioral and emotional challenges. You'll collaborate with the treatment team to develop behavioral and crisis management plans, tailored to the unique needs of each child.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor emotional and behavioral progress of the children through close supervision.
- Utilize de-escalation techniques and rapport building to reduce challenging behaviors and support positive outcomes.
- Respond to unsafe behaviors with approved emergency safety physical interventions.
- Report critical incidents (e.g., injuries, runaways, restraint, self-harm, etc.) immediately to the TBS Supervisor and promptly document them.
- Implement Trauma-Informed Care principles in all interactions with children and colleagues.
- Assist children with meeting daily goals and developing new skills, including social interactions, emotional regulation, and problem-solving.
- Guide children through a structured daily routine, including mealtimes, personal hygiene, recreational activities, and daily medication.
Basic Qualifications
- Mest be 21
- Must have a high school diploma
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, or related field.
- Experience with children with behavioral, emotional, or developmental challenges.
